Marketing Department Audit
Is your marketing team focused on what is actually moving the business forward?
An independent assessment of how your internal marketing operation is structured, resourced, and measured — and whether its effort is pointed at the results the business needs. It is a review of the system, not of the people in it.
What we review
What an outside review can surface
Internal teams are close to the work, which is a strength and also makes some patterns hard to see. A fresh set of eyes can bring them into view.
- Resource gaps: work that matters but has no one, or no time, assigned to it
- Prioritization problems: effort going to what is visible rather than what moves results
- Channel imbalance: spend and attention concentrated where returns may be flattening
- Reporting gaps: numbers that are tracked but do not connect to business outcomes
- Duplicated work across team members, tools, or outside vendors
- Execution bottlenecks: approvals, handoffs, or dependencies that slow good work down
What this is not
It is not an investigation of employees, a performance review, or a search for someone to blame. A capable team can still be working under unclear goals, stretched resources, or tools that do not fit the job. The audit is meant to give the team and its leadership a clearer, shared picture to work from.
What you receive
Written findings, an executive summary, an assessment of how effort and budget line up with business goals, prioritized issues, and recommended next actions, along with a clear note of what could and could not be verified from the available data.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an evaluation of my marketing team?
No. The review looks at how the marketing operation is structured, resourced, and measured, not at individual performance. Most of what an outside review finds comes from constraints and priorities the team inherited, not from anything a person did wrong.
Does the team need to be involved?
Some access and a few conversations make the review more useful, and how that happens is up to you. Some leaders bring the team in from the start as a planning exercise; others prefer a first pass on the data alone. Marketing Audit Co. follows your lead on this.
Can this work for a small team or a single marketer?
Yes. Small teams often have the widest gaps between what needs doing and who is available to do it, which is exactly what an outside review can make visible.
What if we also use agencies or freelancers?
Vendor management is part of the review. An internal team that coordinates several outside vendors is a common setup, and how work is divided among them is one of the things worth looking at.
